Food drive yields lots of food for Our Lady’s Pantry!

Once again, Our Lady’s Pantry has been the beneficiary of a food drive organized by the Sun City Center Women’s Club.  The food drive was held on April 14 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.

“We are so appreciative of this effort by the Women’s Club,” says Pantry director Tom Bullaro.

According to Marie Rueger, who serves the Club as home life committee chair, this spring’s drive yielded 406 non-perishable grocery items for an estimated value of $1,118.50!

“We also collected $500 in cash for the Pantry,” says Rueger.

“Food costs are rising steadily for us, as well as for everyone else,” says Bullaro.  “We are also seeing a shortage of certain foods because of supply chain issues.

“For all these reasons, we are so grateful for this gift of lots of nutritious foods to keep our shelves fully stocked and ready to share with our clients on Saturday mornings.

“We like to think that these gifts of food and money also allow our clients to know that their neighbors care about them,” says Bullaro.

“Thank you once again for this food drive,” he adds.  “You are our ‘hunger heroes’ for your continued support of our Pantry.”
