Our Lady’s Pantry thanks Christina’s Smile for gift of $30,000 for food!

“Our Lady’s Pantry is beginning its 25th year of fighting hunger in Wimauma and surrounding towns,” says director Tom Bullaro.

“That we have survived all these many years reflects the amazing support of caring individuals and groups near — and far.  Among our biggest supporters, in fact, is a non-profit dentistry in Austin, Texas.  For more than 30 years now, Christina’s Smile has been providing free dental services to disadvantaged children throughout the country by means of two 48-ft. mobile dental clinics.

“Just now, executive director of the group, Diane Garza, sent us $30,000,” says Bullaro.  “This is the single largest donation we have ever received for food!”

Bullaro remembers that in 2020, Our Lady’s Pantry learned of the charity work of Christina’s Smile and submitted a grant request to them for $1,000.  He was shocked to get a call from Diane asking if the Pantry could use more money than the $1,000 we requested.

“I couldn’t believe it!” he says.  “In fact, Christina’s Smile gifted us with a stunning $12,500 that first year, followed by $25,000 in 2021, $15,000 in 2022, and now $30,000 — for a total of $82,500 for food for the underserved in our community.  We thank them for their amazing generosity.”
